Hi everyone! Ciao a tutti!
I am a PhD Student at the University of Minnesota, where I study Second Language Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. As a teacher by training, I enjoy the opportunity of working with undergraduate students in my role as Graduate Instructor. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in K-8 Education (with minors in TESOL, reading instruction, and instructional technology); a Master’s degree in Educational Technology (with a focus on multilingual learners); and a graduate-level certification in K-12 TESOL. My teaching career began in South Dakota, where I taught for five years. Four of these years were spent with multilingual students in grades K-5, and the fifth year was with newcomers in grades 6-12. Directly before starting my PhD program, I worked for two years as the head of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at an international school in Thailand, where I did some co-teaching, instructional coaching, and curriculum/policy development. My research interests reflect both my personal and professional experiences. I am interested in examining equitable policies, programming, and instructional practices which honor and sustain linguistic and cultural plurality in schools. Outside of education, some of my hobbies include reading, traveling, cooking, and continuing my studies in Italian. |
